Why not you?

Sitting around after dinner last night, my husband and boys were of course talking hockey and the Olympics.  We are very excited for men's hockey to begin!  The boys favorite hockey player, Ryan Suter, is playing for team USA!  Which leads me to my title....why not you?  It's my husband's latest saying after hearing the story of Russell Wilson's dad asking his son, why not you?  I absolutely love this question.....instead of squashing kids' dreams you are making them think about possibilities.  When Dan asked Jake and Ty that question last night they got big smiles on their faces.  And that, to me, is what it is all about.  In the time of the Olympics, when all the athletes are so inspiring, we should ask all of our little athlete's in our lives....why not you?

Go USA!  In the words of a friend...shoot, pass, kick some a##!

Hockey Moms on a Mission

September 29, 2013
While driving home from our first ever AAA hockey tournament,  we got to thinking.  We are on a spending freeze.  We are on a mission to be fiscally responsible while traveling the Midwest.  Therefore us two hockey mom's decided to carpool, share hotel rooms,  and pack all our food. We will become professional.  So we decided we needed to create a blog to get all of our fantastic,  money saving ideas out there.  While other families will be going out to dinner,  we will be tailgating, crockpot hauling,  and microwaving our way to hockey tournaments.

Hotel: $158.05
Gas: $80.00

Split between the two of us=not bad!

Ps: we caved and spent $9.00 each today. ....starbucks and ice cream for our boys at McDonald's.  Couldn't help it, and we deserved it!

Best idea of the day: pack a keurig in the back of the van/bus. Good coffee makes for happy mom's.

Worst idea of the weekend: bringing a small box of wine vs a large. Yes, we said box.... spending freeze :-)

Glad the boys don't smell yet......
